[edit] Description

The iChat Monitor works with Apple's iChat instant messaging software to generate triggers based on status changes of users on your Buddy List.

    • to Away: generates a trigger when a user's status becomes Away
    • to Available: generates a trigger when a user's status becomes Available

[edit] Values

(A trigger is generated for every user whose status changes. We like to refer to this person as... "this person")

  • ServiceName (text): The name of the service this person is using such as AIM, Bonjour, Jabber, etc.
  • ScreenName (text): The screen name used by this person.
  • Status (text): The online status of this person. One of: Unknown, Offline, Idle, Away, or Available.
  • StatusMessage (text): The status message of this person.
  • IdleSince (date): The date and time of the last activity by this user.
  • IdleSeconds (number): The amount of time (in seconds) since the last activity by this user.
  • Image (image): An image this person has designated as their avatar. If applicable, this image is retrieved from this person's entry in Address Book
  • Name (text): The real name of this person. If applicable, this name is retrieved from Bonjour or this person's entry in Address Book.
  • Email (text): The email address of this person. If applicable, this name is retrieved from Bonjour or this person's entry in Address Book.

[edit] Tips

  • While triggering on all of your iChat buddies is perfectly valid, you may want to execute tasks based on a particular user's status change. To do this, open the filter view by clicking on the disclosure triangle and add a new filter by pressing the "+" button. Select ScreenName or Name from the first popup menu and enter the screen name or name of the user who's status you are monitoring. Once you've done this, only users that match the information provided by the filter will generate a trigger.
