[edit] POWERMATE CONTROL FOR FRONT ROW

[edit] // Use of this blueprint at your own risk! //

What does this blueprint?

Here is a new blueprint for Front Row using only a PowerMate
(no mouse or keyboard connected). Idea was to use the iMac
as a public video station. Needs were the following:

  • Launch Proxi Application
  • Launch Front Row
  • Use of "Enter" in Front Row
  • Use of "Select Up and Down" in Front Row
  • Use of "Play / Pause" in Front Row
  • Use of "Get back to upper Menu within "Movies"" in Front Row
  • Changing volume during playback.

How does it works within Front Row?

To launch Proxi all global settings were deleted. Only the "Short Press"
was defined to launch Proxi Application. As it was only supposed to work
as a videostation without Photos, iTunes or DVD it has no settings for of
"Left" and "Right" movement.

Once the PowerMate starts Front Row it shows the last used icon. (Front Row
remembers the last used section - so before the keyboard is unplugged make
sure that the last section is "Movies".

Once PowerMate enters into "Movies" (refering to the local movie folder) it
shows all videos which were placed in there.

As this iMac shall be used in public people shouldn't be able to go any further
then the upper menu (= videolist of section movies which refers to the local
movie folder).

Once PowerMate is working within the videolist, only a plugged keyboard can
close Front Row.

Volume settings aren't part of the blueprint because Front Row already reacts
with rotating right or left during playback.

Sry for my bad english...
