Proxi v0.17
link: Proxi v0.17
In this update:
- Added iSight image extra value
- Added Sound Play task
- Fixed problem with images not obeying justification settings
- Allowed multiply defined Hotkeys and fallback definitions
- Added Auto start at login preference
- Fixed media keys on intel
- Added eject and power Key Presses
- Added contextual menus in trigger / task lists
Most of the additions this time around are pretty self explanatory. But I’ll mention a couple. You can now embed an image from an iSight camera in your triggers (assuming you have an iSight) via the extra values items. Just add an extra value to your trigger then select iSight Image from the popup menu and you’ll have a snapshot from your iSight attached to the trigger values.
Let’s see… the Sound Play task is pretty obvious. The Hotkeys have been re-implemented allowing you to define the same Hotkey in multiple triggers. This might be useful if you want a Hotkey that does one thing when a certain app is active and another if not. The Auto start at login is a shortcut so you don’t have to open System Preferences and add it manually to your Login Items there.
So that’s pretty much it. Hopefully I didn’t put together a broken release (sorry about that last week.. oops) and let me know what you think.

Installed, lost all my triggers apart from Skype Monitor. Blueprints don’t install.

I’m getting two keystrokes when I hit a button on the AirClick with the Front Row Blueprint. One on the press and one on the release. I am not seeing a “normal” option either. I tried reinstalling to no avail. Any ideas?

My apoligies guys, looks like I was in a rush to get something out before the weekend and I put together a broken package. There are two ways to fix this:
A - Download and install again (I corrected the package… I hope).
B - Navigate to /Library/Application Support/Proxi and note the file ProxiCore.bundle. This file should be moved to the Plugins folder.
Again, my apoligies, I’ll try and be a little more diligent in testing my releases before inflicting them upon you.
If this doesn’t make everything better, please let me know.

Beautiful! Thanks!

Thanks. Works now.

Just a small bug….
Try getting an error message in Front Row. Then press the “Nav Back” combo except start with the |
March 11th, 2006 at 2:54 am
Hmm that didn’t show up very well. The “|” should be the “Previous” button on the AirClick.
March 11th, 2006 at 2:59 am
Yeah, it looks like there are ways to get the prev or next keys stuck (for example I think pressing and holding prevor next and pressing play) , but pressing prev (or next) again seemed to unstick it in all my testing.

Right now it seems a bit too hard to skip songs. It just triggers a held down key with a fast press and release.

Dylan I’m curious, after reinstalling v0.16 did you happen to delete the old Front Row blueprint items and reinstall it again also? I’m not seeing the behavior you describe on my test machine. It behaves exactly as if I were controlling it from the keyboard. Also, did your machine come with Front Row or are you using the patch to enable it? There may be some difference in operation, though I can’t imagine what.
March 13th, 2006 at 11:54 am
Hmm it’s working perfectly now. Maybe it just needed a restart.
March 13th, 2006 at 11:55 am
Oh and I’m using an iMac G4 10.4.5 with the latest front row.
March 17th, 2006 at 11:53 am
when using “check for updates..” the result window seems to always be hidden in the back.
March 17th, 2006 at 1:23 pm
I’m not seeing that behavior J. Hmm.
March 17th, 2006 at 3:34 pm
oh, I found it was only when you selected the “check for updates…” and then moved on to other apps. It is placed behind the active app. I get impatient.
Also, how about a “visit Beta website” in the preferences area?

Whip up a task using one of those handy little Open URL tasks
And it seems I’ve overwritten my v0.16 blog entry with the new 0.17 entry. Perhaps I should give up making new releases on Fridays.

Howdy, Proxi is great. One question, though - is it possible to save the iSightImage extra value as a JPEG somewhere? I’d like to combine it with the Sleep Monitor as a theft deterrent for a laptop. Thanks.

Sadly no. I don’t have the ability to write out images just yet but it’s something I’d like to add in the future.
